Facilitation & Mediation in the Workplace

Why use facilitation and mediation in the workplace?

  • Fair and neutral - an impartial and unbiased third-party mediator can facilitate meetings and make them flow more smoothly, quickly, and productively. When an impasse or conflict arises, the mediator can improve communications, practice and encourage active listening, and foster a cooperative environment.

  • Confidential - mediation is confidential so that the conflicting parties can share the real problems and design solutions based on interests, not positions. It also provides a safe environment.

  • Faster than other processes - nip the issues in the bud immediately.

  • Different perspectives - through active listening, structured dialogues, and managed emotions, the parties can be in each other's shoes, understand the other's perspective, and foster the concept of reciprocity. It also promotes cooperation between the parties.

  • Informal - mediation provides a more relaxed and less stressful environment.

  • Preserve relationships - by turning disputes into positive conflicts, mediation can help preserve relationships between employees, supervisors, and even the company and clients.

  • Creative outcomes - by brainstorming and discussing the issues, understanding underlying interests, and fostering a collaborative environment, mediation provides an open space for out-of-the-box solutions. It aims for win-win outcomes.

  • Voluntary - any of the parties can leave the process at any time.

  • More cost-effective than litigation.

  • CAN AVOID LITIGATION.

  • Control - the parties control the outcomes since they make the decisions.
